Pianos International officially opened it's doors in 1979 as a piano retail and rebuilding facility in Missoula, Montana. In 1981, we expanded our services to include piano rentals. Since that time we have helped hundreds of families throughout Montana and the Northwest to have music under their fingertips with quality pianos.

Founder and proprietor, Lucien Hut has been a pianist and "fixer" of pianos since his childhood days in Nazi-occupied Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After a prestigious career as a concert pianist and university music professor, he turned his life more toward emphasis on piano technology and acoustics. Now retired from the University, Lucien has presented hundreds of technical lectures and seminars throughout the U.S. as well as in Europe, Japan and Australia. He has been retained as technical consultant and education specialist for Kawai, Petrof and Schimmel and is an internationally acknowledged expert in this field. Lucien still concertizes, though he travels less. We are still available for restorations on a select basis.
